    Objectives & OKRs

Goals that survive contact with the week.

Almost every company sets objectives. Very few can tell you, on a random Tuesday in month two, whether anyone is working on them. The gap is structural: goals live in one system and work lives in another, so keeping them in sync is a manual job that quietly stops getting done.

    The problem

The quarterly goal document nobody opens in week three

You write the objectives in a planning session. They go into a doc. The doc is reviewed at the end of the quarter, at which point somebody reconstructs what happened and assigns a percentage to each one. Everybody knows the percentage is invented. The exercise persists because the alternative — knowing continuously — has historically required more admin than anyone will sustain.

    How it works

Link the task once, get progress forever

When someone creates a task, they can attach it to an objective. That single tag is the entire ongoing cost. From then on, completing the task moves the objective, and the objective can show both its key result numbers and how much of its linked work is done.
    • Key results with a start, a target, and a unit
    • Tasks tagged to an objective from anywhere in the app
    • Progress derived from real completions, not self-reported status
    • A count of how many linked tasks remain

    Reviewed weekly, not quarterly

Objectives appear inside Meeting Mode alongside the week's completed, blocked, and stale work. That is what makes the review habitual rather than ceremonial — the goal check takes thirty seconds and happens in a meeting you were having anyway.
    • Objective progress on screen during the team sync
    • Spot objectives with no active work before the quarter ends
    • Connect a blocked task to the outcome it is holding up
    • No separate goal review meeting to schedule

    What you get

    Measurable key results

Each key result has a starting value, a target, and a unit. Progress is arithmetic, not a feeling someone converts into a percentage.

    Tasks linked to outcomes

Tag a task with an objective and it counts. The connection is made once, at the moment the work is created.

    Roll-up you can trust

Objective progress is derived from its key results and linked tasks — there is no field for someone to optimistically overwrite.

    Company or team scope

Set objectives at the company level and let every team contribute, or keep them local to one team. Both work.

    Visible where decisions happen

Objectives appear in Meeting Mode, so the weekly sync can connect this week to the quarter without a separate review.

    Honest about neglect

An objective with no linked tasks shows as exactly that. Quietly abandoned goals stop being invisible.

    A caveat worth stating

OKRs will not fix an unclear strategy

If a team cannot agree on what matters, writing it as an objective with three key results does not create agreement — it formalises the disagreement and adds tracking to it. What this feature does well is close the gap between a decision already made and the work that follows from it. Making the decision is still your job.
